La Vinuela Boutique Hotel Wedding
How about getting married by a turquoise lake amidst Andalucian hills and fields? It sounds like a good idea to me! And that’s exactly what Diane and Davy opted for when they decided to tie the knot in a little Spanish town (or nearby, to be precise) Vinuela, near Malaga. La Vinuela Boutique Hotel is a beautiful venue, tucked away from the busy coast of Costa del Sol.
Funny enough, I lived quite close to La Vinuela years ago and never got a chance to shoot a wedding there. So I was even more excited when Davy booked me as his and Diane’s wedding photographer.
No wedding planner? No problem!
As this was an independently organized wedding, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. However, the moment I set foot in Diane’s room to cover the getting ready portion of the day and saw Ella’s – the makeup artis – familiar face, I instantly felt at home. Then I took a stroll around La Vinuela Hotel’s gardens and met lovely Gail, the wedding celebrant. It’s a small wedding world in Spain!
The beauty of it is that we often work along each other and know how to work together. Because every wedding is a team effort. It takes many dedicated wedding professionals to make everything run seamlessly.
And as I was walking around, hunting for angles and best light, a little boy – and a ring bearer as I was about to find out – stopped me and asked if I was a police officer. Now, you need to know I tend to wear black to weddings and with my harness for cameras and dark sunglasses I must look like a badass. Or police officer. Oh well. Time to rethink my fashion choices!
Luckily, I did not scare anyone off and had a great time snapping away photos at Diane and Davy’s wedding. As this was a smaller wedding, I only got to spend 4 hours with them as their wedding photographer, but I hope my photos convey their excitement – and a bit of nervousness as well 🙂
